For the concluding day of 2026 Biennale Matter of Art at the National Gallery Prague, Polish artist Szymon Adamczak will lead a performative guided tour through the exhibition space, focusing on the personal, intimate, and collective traces and histories of AIDS and HIV.
In recent years Adamczak has been creating a body of work with the goal of making embodied knowledge of HIV palpable and felt in the rooms he is performing in. By sharing his own experience and interacting with the legacies of AIDS/HIV in the visual arts and literature, he will offer stories native to his Polish context and present found ephemera and archival materials. The form of a guided tour is evoked here to invite moments of togetherness and (a)synchronicity while making a journey into the footsteps of different timelines, aspects, and artistic documents that evoke surviving, being sick, and being alive with HIV.
