Szymon Adamczak

Szymon Adamczak (*1991) is a dramaturge, writer, and theater and performance artist working across disciplines, situated between Warsaw and Amsterdam. He is an alumnus of DAS Theatre and the THIRD artistic research program in Amsterdam. He works as the codirector of In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities, a platform for queer performance pedagogy and feedback. Adamczak is a founding member and program coordinator at QueerMuzeum Warszawa and has a vital interest in contemporary practices of AIDS/HIV-oriented culture and activism. He participated in the exhibitions Creative States of Illness at the Arsenal Municipal Gallery in Poznań and Tiger Blood at the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw, presented his practice at the Stedelijk Museum and W139 in Amsterdam, and has been featured in publications by, among others, David Zwirner Gallery, Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, and The HIV Howler. He has completed training with the European AIDS Treatment Group and the International AIDS Society. In 2021 he initiated a long-term artistic and research project focused on the life and death of Bob Mellors, a cofounder of the Gay Liberation Front UK, and the traces of transnational queer activism in Poland.
