A significant current of contemporary art consists of projects that can be perceived as social work or community activism. However, they are initiated by artists, such as squatter, activist and artist Bára Bažantová, who is the guest of the second episode of the podcast series Raut. The squatter, activist and artist Bára Bažantová lives in Brno, where she studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Technology in the Environmental Studio. Her projects are often related to the theme of public space, involving various communities. Her project Hunger Wall (2019) consisted of placing a wheel of fortune in front of a branch of the employment office. As a prize, participants were able to win a job contract to work on the construction of the 'hunger wall'. This was then built together with the participants on a nameless square, which the inhabitants of Cejl. What makes the position of the artist-social worker problematic? And what are the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Cejl area, which is undergoing a significant transformation due to gentrification?
