Vernaculars of Resistance: Guided tour with artists and curators
Length: 02 hours 00 minutes
Guided tour of the Biennale Matter of Art 2022 (c) Jonáš Verešpej
A guided tour of the biennale exhibition at the Trade Fair Palace, conducted by the curators and participating artists. Includes a Q&A. Simultaneous interpreting into headphones will be available on site, and the event is accessible in both Czech and English. Free entrance.
During the opening weekend of the biennale, two special guided tours will take place (on June 14 at 5 p.m. and June 15 at 11 a.m.), led by the curators of the biennale, Aleksei Borisionok and Katalin Erdődi, and several exhibiting artists. Together, they will engage in a dialogue. During the tour, visitors will have a chance to ask questions and talk about individual artworks as well as the wider curatorial concepts. Each of the two tours will be differently themed and will be conducted in English with simultaneous interpretation into Czech.
What tools, what knowledge, what traditions do we mobilize in order to resist and undermine domination and oppression? During the guided tour Vernaculars of Resistance, particular attention will be paid to artworks dealing with female agency and feminist approaches to resistance and resilience across the changing contexts of the rural and the urban: from self-organized protests of women in Turkey against private power plant projects that threaten the local ecosystem to the role of in/visibility and language in showing resistance.
Participating artists: björnsonova, DAVRA research group (Madina Joldybek, Zumrad Mirzalieva), Nikita Kadan, Judita Levitnerová, Pınar Öğrenci, Randomroutines (Tamás Kaszás & Krisztián Kristóf), Alicja Rogalska, Antje Schiffers, stopgenocidevgaze kolektiv, Dominika Trapp
The event is part of the full-day program of the second day of the biennale’s opening weekend. The program at the Trade Fair Palace continues with further performances until 9 p.m.
Further guided tours will be available throughout the duration of the biennale. The dates are published in the Calendar section.
