Arthouse table top role-playing games are like a laboratory of emotions: Interview with anto_nie and Orin Rodriguez

Podcast Raut © Viktorie Macánová

Collective tabletop storytelling role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons allow players to collectively imagine a better present, process emotionally challenging situations such as death or various forms of discrimination in a controlled gaming environment, or to explore ways of breaking away from social norms. Gaming principles are seeping into the visual arts and theater, and there are game design studios at art academies. Listen to an interview with Orin Rodriguez and anto_nie, who connect board games with artistic practice.

Listen to a special summer episode of the discursive podcast Raut – the second half of the two-hour episode consists of an audio recording of the role-playing board game Potvory, which anto_nie co-created with Maxim Shchapov as part of her thesis at the Vienna Academy.
