How to Galas is a participatory event in the Tusculum Garden organized by the GALAS Collective, which approaches play, cooking, and being together as tools of cultural resistance.

The GALAS Collective was founded in Warsaw in 2022 in response to the war in Ukraine, to support people affected by war, forced displacement, and the erasure of Ukrainian culture. What began as an act of solidarity has grown into ongoing support for migrant and refugee communities and cultures facing oppression. The collective works through participatory, performative, and culinary approaches in order to build connections, share knowledge, fundraise, and create community.

How to Galas takes the form of a collective quest game where stories are the currency of collaboration. As participants share stories, a communal meal will gradually come together. In addition to the game and cooking, hosted by Vladyslav Gryn and Taras Gembik, the event includes a poetry reading with live music by Zoi Michailova, followed by a DJ set. How to Galas uses play and shared work as artistic tools, inviting strangers to collaborate, exchange memories, and form a temporary community.
