We wish for a world in which we can fully participate, a world that is a place of belonging. Yet we live in a world where we are constrained by ways of thinking, behaviors, and structures that run contrary to this—the world of modernity. In families, among friends, and at work, we often crave certainty and control; we seek objectivity and flawlessness; we long for a sense of uniqueness and authority. How can we see modernity within ourselves, and what do we want to do with it? Is it necessary to get rid of it, must we accept it, or could we perhaps compost it? Facilitators from kroužek intersekce [krɔːʒek ɪntɜːrsektse] will guide you through a structured two-hour session centered on our collective lived experience and the book Hospicing Modernity by Brazilian educator Vanessa Machado de Oliveira.
