National Gallery Prague Performance Party Speeches

We cordially invite you to the opening ceremony of this year’s Biennale Matter of Art, which will take place at the National Gallery Prague – Trade Fair Palace on June 13, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. The program at the Trade Fair Palace will continue on June 14 with additional performances. The opening of the second part of the biennale will take place at the Lidice Gallery on June 15. Admission is free of charge.

The programme on Thursday evening will commence with opening speeches by the curators Aleksei Borisionok and Katalin Erdődi, the director of tranzit.cz Tereza Stejskalová, and the director of the National Gallery Prague Alicja Knast. The evening will continue with Antje Schiffers's performance Myvillages' International Schnaps Bar, followed by an artistic intervention Do you think all those olive trees are in paradise? by the stopgenocidevgaze collective. Founded by visual artist Dominika Trapp, the Hungarian conceptual music project Peasants in Atmosphere will join forces with the women's folklore ensemble Lada for an experimental concert performance. Post-critical design studio The Rodina will present their performative take on the Biennale's visual identity. The night will close in Kolektor Cafe with a DJ set by the Ukranian sound creator and DJ AXT (Masha Kornieieva).

The biennale is organized by the initiative tranzit.cz in cooperation with the National Gallery Prague and the Lidice Art Collection. The exhibition will run from June 14 to September 29, 2024.
