Isadora Neves Marques

Isadora Neves Marques (*1984, Lisbon, Portugal) is a film director, visual artist, writer, and poet based between Hong Kong and Oxford. Their award-winning short films have been shown at numerous festivals, including Critics’ Week – Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, the New York Film Festival, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where Marques won the Ammodo Tiger Short Award in 2022. As an artist, they represented Portugal at the 2022 Venice Biennale, and they have exhibited in major art institutions around the world, including the High Line in New York and the Pérez Art Museum of Miami in the United States; Castello di Rivoli, CA2M, and Wellcome Collection in Europe; and Kyoto City University of the Arts Gallery and the Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum in East Asia. They are the author of three poetry collections in English and Portuguese and write regularly on art and film for various publications, especially e-flux Journal.
