Alina Sokolova (*1995, Uzhhorod, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian artist based in Vienna. She studied fine arts in Uzhhorod, Bratislava, Hamburg, and Vienna. Her artistic practice can be described as a detailed exploration of movement. She is particularly interested in the repetitive gestures of today’s work, the concept of care, and the mechanization of our daily lives. She studies movements that have become commonplace and serve as a testament to their time and the ever-changing social climate. Her paintings deal with questions of the coexistence of animals and humans and the care of them, leisure time, productivity, consumption, and the phenomena of mass choreography in the era of digital media. In 2020 she was nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her works have been exhibited in various group exhibitions in Vienna and throughout Europe, including at the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, the Museum of Art Žilina, and the Stadtmuseum Berlin.
