More than 40 artists to participate at the 2026 Biennale Matter of Art

The fourth edition of the international biennale starts on June 12, 2026

Biennale 2026 Exhibition

The Biennale Matter of Art releases the full artist list of this year's edition, entitled Necessary Wishes. The fourth iteration of the contemporary art showcase organized by tranzit.cz will take place in Prague and Pardubice from 12 June to 13 September 2026.

The exhibition in the Grand Hall of the Trade Fair Palace will present—alongside six new artist commissions by Noor Abed, David Apakidze, Yana Bachynska / Jan Bačynsjkyj, Adrián Kriška, Aliza Orlan, and the filmmaker duo Zaher Jureidini and Leila Basma—works from Slovak painter Hana Garová, Polish visual artist and performer Nadia Markiewicz, Slovak interdisciplinary artist Jan Durina, Ukrainian artist and anarchist Davyd Chychkan, Slovak curator, intermedia artist and activist Ladislava Gažiová, German photographers Jürgen Baldiga and Aron Neubert, Belarusian visual artist Gleb Amankulov, Slovak multimedia artist and performer Tina Bxtq, Polish painter, performer and filmmaker Margaret Raspé, Belgian visual artist Anne-Mie van Kerckhoven, as well as a collaborative project by painter Bronislava Orlická and textile designer Zuzana Smrkovská, among others.

The second part of the biennale exhibition at City Gallery of Pardubice (GAMPA) will feature works by Czech artist and photographer Běla Kolářová, Ukrainian sculptor, performer, printmaker and philosopher Fedir Tetyanych, Slovak multidisciplinary artist Alex Sihelsk*, Polish painter and performer Cezary Bodzianowski, Portuguese filmmaker Isadora Neves Marques, Romanian painter Ștefan Bertalan, Slovak visual artist and musician András Cséfalvay, Iranian filmmaker Nosrat Karimi, and Polish artist Liliana Zeic.

As part of the biennale's programme, Prague-based art centre Tusculum will host a series of workshops with the multidisciplinary collective StonyTellers, and the accompanying programme will also include the Warsaw-based community platform GALAS (Галас) and musician Zoi Michailova.
