Pride Week with Shella Radio & Biennale Matter of Art & Ankali

Pride week is a special time for our community: a time we get together, dance, vibe, and take time to share our experience and know-how. During Pride week, there will be events from Thursday to Sunday, August 6 to 9, at Ankali and Planeta Za, the home of Shella Radio. Planeta Za will open its doors for us as we start there with a workshop on music production and DJing.

Next we’ll open the garden doors for two talks focused on open, queer conversations. 

The first talk will be about building safe and brave spaces for the queer community. Local collectives and active members of our community will share their experiences of building these spaces and have an open conversation about how we can move forward and continue to build third places and brave communities. 

After that, you’ll have some time to grab a cool drink and settle in for our second talk: Queer Art as a Form of Resistance. Local artists and curators of the biennale will come together for a talk about the importance of queer art and the many shapes it can take. They will also discuss building spaces within the art world for artists to resist the system through their art, identity, politics, and self-expression.

We’ll be ending our Pride event with DJ sets from our own Shella Studio, where we’ll decompress, enjoy each others’ company, and continue the conversations.
