Guided tour through Nikita Kadan’s curatorial intervention in the Lidice Art Collection and artist talks
This guided tour will be led by the artist Nikita Kadan, who will share insights into his curatorial approach and engage in a dialogue with the artists Dana Kavelina and Kateryna Lysovenko, who are part of his curatorial intervention, as well as Marta Popivoda, who has also been working on a new commission in Lidice. Visitors will have a chance to ask questions and talk about the artworks with their creators as well as the curators.
For the Biennale Matter of Art 2024, Kadan has prepared a curatorial intervention into the Lidice Art Collection titled Dernier Poème [The Last Poem], building upon the notion of the Lidice Memorial as a place that remembers extreme forms of violence and also a site that hosts symbols of international antifascist solidarity in the form of the Lidice Art Collection and the Rose Garden. The curatorial intervention includes works from the collection as well as works by invited Ukrainian artists. It addresses the unstable borders between reality and dreams, engagement and alienation, violence and resilience.
The installation in the Lidice Art Collection is part of the exhibition of the Biennale Matter of Art 2024 and is accessible free of charge until September 29, 2024.
