Mary C

Marie Čtveráčková, a.k.a. Mary C, is a musician, curator, lecturer, and music journalist. She worked as an editor at Czech Radio’s Radio Wave and hosted the music show Scéna s Mary C (The Scene with Mary C). She is a co-founder of the collective ZVUK as well as Synth Library Prague, a space for sharing, creating, discussing, and experimenting in the field of electronic music and sound. Under the name Kreaton, she and composer and producer Martin Hůla have been organizing music workshops and lectures for children and adults for more than five years, aimed at popularizing new ways of listening to and making music as well as the possibilities of music technology. As a curator of music education events, she has collaborated with the Goethe-Institut on the series Music Ports, with Palác Akropolis on the festival No One Future, with MeetFactory and the SHAPE platform on the international educational meeting Synapse, and with the Lunchmeat Festival on the Collective Affairs Symposium. Within the scope of Synth Library Prague, she formed a collective of women musicians called Trigger, which also published a magazine of the same name. In her activities, she also deals with the socio-economic context of sound and music, accessibility, and breaking down stereotypes in the music scene and music technology. She has given guest lectures and workshops at Charles University and AVU, the Heroines of Sound festival in Berlin, Construction in Dnipro, MENT in Ljubljana, Electric Spring in Vienna, and Nuits Sonores in Lyon.
