Matter of Art Talks #4: Alina Kleytman & Marie Lukáčová in discussion with Piotr Sikora
We invite you to the fourth episode of a series of live-streamed interviews with curators and artists hosted on the Biennale Matter of Art Instagram account. The final debate will take place on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 6 pm (CEST). The artists Marie Lukáčová and Alina Kleytman will discuss their current projects and artistic practice with the curator Piotr Sikora. The event is hosted by Tereza Stejskalová.

Marie Lukáčová is a painter, animator, director, rapper and co-founder of the feminist group Fourth Wave, which opened a debate on the topic of sexism at Czech universities. She works mainly with the medium of video and video installation. Her films refashion symbols borrowed from the spheres of politics, mythology, geology, and science. In 2019 she was a finalist in the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. At present she is a lecturer at the Centre for Audiovisual Studies at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU).
Alina Kleytman is an artist, curator, and mentor. Since 2020, she has been a curator of the independent art space “Dzherelo” (based in Kyiv, Ukraine). In 2019–2020, she provided mentorship for the long-term project Coming Out of Isolation 2.0 aimed at the elimination of discrimination, xenophobia, and prejudice towards members of the LGBT+ community in Ukraine, initiated by IZOLYATSIA (a platform for cultural initiatives) and supported by the Human Rights Fund 2019.

Piotr Sikora is a critic and curator of contemporary art. He defended his master's degree at the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He is a member of the Polish Section of the AICA. As curator of the MeetFactory AiR Program in Prague, together with Lucia Kvočáková he initiated the platform The New Dictionary of Old Ideas. He is also a lecturer at the Anglo-American University in Prague. Sikora is an ardent player of bike polo and father of a son, Bořivoj. He lives and works in Prague.

Matter of Art Talks
A series of streamed discussions will introduce the practice of the artists who will create new commissioned artworks for the second edition of the biennale Matter of Art, which will take place in 2022 in Prague. Over the course of four meetings between the 13th and 21st of December 2021, artists Hera Büyüktaşcıyan, Alina Kleytman, Marie Lukáčová, Bára Šimková, and Sina Seifee will engage in discussions with the members of the biennale’s curatorial working group, Rado Ištok, Piotr Sikora, Renan Laru-an, and Tereza Stejskalová. The discussions will be streamed live on the Instagram profile of Matter of Art. The discussions are a part of the long-term activities of the artists in collaboration with the organizing institution tranzit.cz, which hosted the participating artists in a creative residency program in Prague in 2021. In the discussions, the artists will focus not only on the context of their artistic practices but also on the commissioned projects that they began developing during their month-long residencies in Prague, which will be presented to the public at the upcoming biennale. The discussions will take place in English, without subtitles.
